Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Looking to grab a few...... they seem to have a good selection at what appears to competative prices.
Yea or Nea? http://www.colemans.com/ammocan.htm |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
We usually pick up our ammo cans at the gun show or the Army Navy Surplus store. I like to look them over because some are rusted or dented. Those prices are better than I've been paying for mine though check on the shipping costs before you buy.

But, the variety on that site is better than what I can get at my surplus store. |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Yeah that what I was thinking.........
Two gun stores in the area just got sold and they had a nice selection (missed the liquidation sale :s10:) but I am always looking to pick up a few especially the smaller ones cause they can take alot of abuse and can be moved quickly (like getting thrown out in the middle of the night quickly ) Even if the shipping is a tad bit pricey I would still snag a few. if you keep something of quality long enough it eventually pays for itself. Thanks for the feedback LA.:ok: T |

That is what caught my eye......... they must be a REAL Milsurp company not one of those stores that just stumbled across a few by accident and then decided to toss that word on there store front. like they been doing it for thirty odd years. I plan to make a call to get some info tommarow. T |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Had them 4 for 15 bux at the gun show last week.

Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
FYI shipping cost for 10 of them to Houston, Texas.
Not exactly a bargain if your shipping them. Available Shipping Methods Rates In Store Pickup (Millersburg, PA - (Please call 1-888-478-7758 before pickup)) $0.00 United Parcel Service (Next Day Air) $414.75 United Parcel Service (Next Day Air Saver) $395.10 United Parcel Service (2nd Day Air) $295.43 United Parcel Service (3 Day Select) $173.34 United Parcel Service (Ground) $65.79 |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Well Texas isnt "just round the bend" ya know
I would go ground and call it a day. I have paid more to have less shipped to me. T |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
I think you should check locally first. $7 to $10 for the 50 cal's
A little drive beats that shipping. I need a couple more, after tha last ammo pick up. Ammo cans are the only way to store your stuff, and these are made to be buried, which is a nice feature. |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
at the gun shop here i pay 4.95 for the 50 cal cans , every time i go there i get 5 more

Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Just placed a order for 14 cans
165 for everything shipped to my doorstep. They said they get there product directly from Uncle Sam BY THE TRUCK LOAD. They do not tamper with the seals so you get whatever you get........but for the most part she said (Ms Jessica) they have had very few complaints about them. I will report back on Quality and Condition. 7 days for delivery on average. Thanks for everybodys feedback :ok: T |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
I never pay over $5 for a 50 cal can.
Usually get them at the bigger gun shows. |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Colemans are good folks, family run business. Old farmers turned capitalist. Buy it from the government for pennies on the dollar and store it till someone comes along that wants to pay a "fair" price for it.
If you go there for cans, they will pull a pallet of them out and you can choose which ones you want from the bunch. TA, this would have made a nice trip for you (couldn't have done it for $35.00 though), located north-east of Harrisburg. If you ever do go there, plan a bunch of time for the visit, lots of stuff to look at from small things like gloves, boots, rope, etc., to big things like generators, bridge components, all wheel drive trucks, etc., etc.,. Just look at their catalog it's impressive. The prices may not be the absolute best but they do have a huge selection. If you want, they will have their mechanic check out some of the stuff too, so you know if it will run or not. |

Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Ta Coleman's is a good store I have dealt with them in the past, as said shipping is always the deal breaker. If you can wait I get my cans at the general swap meet at Englishtown raceway in April there is a dealer there with cans cheap. I also use Ron at Volko supply in garden City but currently out of stock on cans at the moment.

Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
I got my cans.........
They arrived pretty fast and were packaged well. The 50 cal fat cans were in EXCELLENT CONDITION The seals were perfect I will definatley scoop up more when I get the chance. I ordered another one http://store.colemans.com/cart/ammo-...wii-p-228.html Aparently I got confused on the demesions(cant do complex math) because they were very skinny also the condtion of them were not visually appealling at all...my first thought was to send them back but the more I looked at them The more uses popped in my head ( They would be excellent to hide behind a drywall etc) The condition of them were rough but honestly they worked as promised. So all in all I give them very high marks product, delivery and service. |
Re: Are these good prices for Ammo Cans?
Keep in mind that when the current supply of metal ammo cans is gone that's it there will be no more. The military doesn't use them anymore. They've gone to plastic and the plastic ones don't reseal well.
